Seaview

Seagrove Bay 9 x 6

Looking towards Seagrove Bay, this much-loved beach and bay is remarkably unchanged.

Seaview (4) 9 x 6

Seagrove Bay looking back towards Seaview village.  I think this was shot from the grounds of the Halland Hotel, which prior to the pier’s destruction in 1951 was called the Pier Hotel.

Seaview 9 x 6

A classic Seaview shot, as seen in numerous postcards over the years.  Aside from the fashions and cars, this really has not changed any significant amount over the intervening fifty-plus years.

Seaview (2) 9 x 6

A variation of above, this time with more of the Seaview Dinghies and slipway forming part of the view.

Seaview (3) 9 x 6

Entering Seaview via the toll road we see a Leyland PD2 bus GDL 764 belonging to Seaview Services about to negotiate the two ninety degree turns into Bluett Avenue.  Amazingly, this vehicle still survives to this day and can be seen at the Isle of Wight bus museum.

The Duver, Seaview 9 x 6

Turning around 180 degrees and looking back towards Ryde along what was the toll road.  Only relatively recently has the sea wall been built up.
